Huntley House : Extra Care
Huntley House was the first purpose built Extra Care facility in Surrey.
Extra Care offers an alternative approach towards addressing the housing and care needs of those over retirement age. Huntley House offers 49 self-contained apartments, which are let on an unfurnished basis.
Based on site is the Whiteley Village Domiciliary Care Service, a team of skilled and qualified carers that are able to deliver care and support specific to the needs of the individual. Each resident of Huntley House pays only for the help they need, above the standard requirement that a minimum of three hours per week.
Huntley House, which was opened in 2003, is thus the appropriate choice for those who have a determination to live independently, and wish to remain in control of their own space with their own belongings around them.
Each apartment offers the following:
- A wheelchair friendly environment
- A lounge with TV aerial and telephone point
- Kitchenette with adjustable height surfaces
- Separate double bedroom
- En-suite shower room / toilet
- Alarm call points, door handles, taps and window fastenings designed to be user friendly.
The communal areas include a dining room and catering service, computer area, laundrette room, and assisted bathing facilities.
Those living in Huntley House also enjoy the benefit of all the shops and services, and the sports and social opportunities that the Village has to offer.
Residents may be able to claim Housing Benefit that will cover all or some of the rental costs at Huntley House. A small service charge is also payable, that covers the cost of the communal facilities. Homecare, provided by our own Domiciliary Care Service, is charged at an hourly rate and depends upon the level of care provided.
Residents may be able to claim Attendance Allowance to fund any care package they may need.
Applicants who currently live in Surrey may, after assessment by the local authority, qualify for a care package that is funded by Social Services.
